Besides Cycling, Erie is a Busy Town
Have you ever wondered what makes a Great Lakes city like Erie so great? Well the short answer is the lake itself. It's a pretty big deal. Lake Erie sculpts our shorelines, controls our weather and provides endless hours of recreation.
Lake Erie is a gravitational force in the lives of all of us who call the Lake Erie Region home. It inspires us to do great things. And one of the greatest things we do is to set aside the first weekend in August every year to celebrate our rich culture.
The Erie Blues and Jazz Festival
The Erie Blues and Jazz Fest is more than a quarter of a century old and is held at the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park. Concerts are scheduled all weekend with a focus on the Blues on Saturday and Jazz on Sunday. The Erie Blues and Jazz Festival is home to Lake Erie Cyclefest's meet up Hub and bike corral.
Dan Rice Days
A free summer festival showcasing food, crafts, West Erie County, local music and, most importantly, the people who call Girard home.
Explore the Arboretum
Known simply as LEAF, the arboretum is a marvel - an urban oasis whose creation was due to partnerships between citizens living near the park, local government, and philanthropy. Explore the arboretum. There are multiple stages, events and trails. During Lake Erie Cyclefest there's a fine local art show in the arboretum's Educational Center. Here's a link to the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier.
